The Michigan Council of Economic Education offers many programs for teachers and students.

- Michigan Stock Market Game™ (SMG)
- An educational simulation that teaches personal finance and stock markets, the American economic system, and the global economy. Students in grades 5-12 are responsible for developing and managing hypothetical investment portfolios worth $100,000. Over 1,000,000 Michigan students have participated since the beginning of the program in 1980. Visit the National Stock Market Game site (www.smgww.org) for more information.

- “A Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words” Poster Contest
- Students in grades 1-8 illustrate in poster form one of the following economic concepts: scarcity, productive resources, opportunity cost, specialization, entrepreneurship, producers and consumers, goods and services. Each of twelve winners receives a $50 U.S. Savings Bond. The winning posters are then highlighted in a twelve month calendar for the following year.(

- Michigan Economics Challenge
- Co-sponsored with NCEE, and
Goldman Sachs, this program is an opportunity for teams of four high school students to demonstrate their knowledge on a broad array of economic topics and subjects. The Challenge is divided into two categories: Adam Smith for Advanced Placement Economics and David Ricardo for standard economics classes. The state champions go to Chicago for the Regional Competition with an opportunity to qualify for the National Championship in New York City.

- Econ & Me
- An award winning education series that teaches five basic economic concepts: scarcity, opportunity cost, consumption, production, and interdependence. The five 15-minute video vignettes revolve around four children and their invisible friend, Jeremiah E. Connery (ECON). A teacher’s guide that supports the videos accompanies the program. These five concepts comprise the core of the Michigan Elementary Level Standards and Benchmarks.

- Mini-Society
- Mini-Society is a simulation program that integrates English, Math, Social Studies, and Art as it teaches students the concepts, skills, values, and attitude of economics and entrepreneurship. Skills are developed to help students resolve the dilemma of unlimited wants and limited resources and to achieve a better quality of life. Learn how to leverage teachable moments into strong economic understanding for your students and leave with fanastic materials for your classroom.

- KidsEcon Posters
- KidsEcon Posters is a joint curriculum project of the Michigan Council on
Economic Education and Indiana Council on Economic Education.
The goal of the project is to help K-8 students understand the exciting economic world around them- making them more effective producers, consumers, savers, investors, and voting citizens. Each poster concept is linked to the appropriate National Content Standard in Economics.
In addition the illustrated economic concepts are correlated to the Michigan Social Studies Standards & Benchmarks,
Strand IV Economic
Perspective. For each poster there is a Teacher's Guide, which includes a more detailed explanation of the concept, teaching ideas, and a list of several children's literature books that teach the concept.

- 6 Core Principles Poster
- The Michigan Council on Economic Education and Muskegon Area Intermediate School District developed the 6 Core Economic Principles Poster to represent six powerful ideas that explain the economic behavior of people. These six ideas will introduce students to a variety of economic concepts, which they will be able to apply to history, geography, government, civics, as well as psychology. The 6 Core Economic Principles Poster is closely aligned with the Content strand, Standards and Benchmarks of the Michigan
Curriculum Framework for Social Studies and the
Voluntary National Content Standards in Economics
of the National Council on Economic Education.
