Dear Educators and Students:

Welcome to the Michigan Council on Economic Education’s (MCEE) Young Investor Webpage (YIW).  This webpage has been a collaborative effort made possible through a grant from the Investor Protection Trust (IPT), and support of the Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services (OFIS).

From educators who have experienced and seen the benefits of teaching investor education in the classroom, YIW was developed to provide you additional resources and materials to enhance your current classroom teaching of investing.  In the following sections of the YIW, you will be introduced to lessons, glossaries, and web links that will not only enhance your classroom materials, but will provide excellent investor education lessons focused on your need to address Michigan’s new Grade Level Content Expectations and High School Content Expectations.

A unique aspect of YIW is the opportunity for you to share investor education lessons and activities that have been successful for you in your classroom.  As YIW develops, we will provide ways for you to submit and be recognized for your efforts. We hope you take advantage of this feature and share with your investor education colleagues around Michigan.

Our students are being educated for a new era. One in which their knowledge of investing concepts and ideas will be very important in their future retirement and career paths.  We hope you will find YIW to be an integral part of your classroom and your students’ investor education.

Finally, if you have any suggestions or comments for making YIW better and more relevant to your classroom, please contact us at mcee@mceeonline.org.  We would very much like to hear from you.
